Joint-move powers Senegal power generation

November 1 - A multimodal joint American and Costa Rican move by two project freight forwarders is set to power Senegal's lights for the immediate future.

US forwarder Rock-It Cargo and Laninco of Costa Rica, both members of the Global Project Logistics Network(GPLN), got together to undertake a joint move for Rock-it Cargo´s client APR Energy of generators and transformers from Costa Rica to Senegal.

The movement was part of the Senegalese government's power generation plans. It involved the movement of 28 generators from Costa Rica, where the equipment was on loan to the Costa Rican Electricity Authority, via Miami to Senegal by sea and then movement of two emergency replacement transformers by air.

Rock-it and Laninco cooperated to ensure a smooth operation on the penultimate Martinair freighter out of Costa Rica for the season.

"As a first cooperation between Laninco and another GPLN Member, we are extremely happy with the level of dedication and professionalism of Rock-it Cargo," said Laninco president Adam Crabbe.

Philadelphia, US-based Rock-It Cargo delivers logistics solutions for the most challenging projects, specialising in handling complex itineraries, international destinations, fragile cargo and time-sensitive schedules.

APR Energy offers temporary power solutions on a fast-track basis to government and industrial customers around the globe. Contracts with customers are typically for a period of between 12 months and three years, during which time APR Energy provides all installation, operation and maintenance services for the project as a whole.
