Container shipping group Maersk has outlined the price of compliance with the proposed European Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS).
The ETS, which is under revision to increase is geographical scope well beyond EU borders, will carry a significant cost burden for shippers.
Maersk provided estimates of the ETS charge per freight equivalent unit on a number of trade lanes, which can be seen below:
