Marguisa and United Heavy Lift (UHL) have expanded their joint sailing agreement and established United Marguisa Lines (UML), which will act as the operating company for their services to Africa.

Marguisa and UHL established the joint multipurpose service to West Africa last year, as HLPFI reported here. The formation of UML formalises this service.

Francisco Durán from Marguisa and Christian Monsted of UHL will head up UML as managing directors.

Two vessels – UML Veronica and UML Valentina – will be operating under a long-term charter with the new company. Additional tonnage will be chartered in as per the requirements of the semi-liner sailings.

According to Monsted, the company aims to continuing growing in the coming years and expand its offering to include East Africa, where there will be a particular focus on LNG projects in Mozambique.
