Last week, Marguisa docked its first container ship at the port of Calabar in Nigeria.

The Spanish shipping line specialises in West Africa trade lanes and recently added Calabar to its network, following an agreement with the local authorities of the Nigerian port last year.

The Marguisa Calabar Service (MCS) offers bi-weekly services using Malabo in Equatorial Guinea as a hub.

The addition of Calabar expands upon Marguisa’s regular service to major West African ports, Marguisa Africa Service (MAS).

Earlier this year, Marguisa signed a joint sailing agreement with United Heavy Lift (UHL) to offer multipurpose services to West Africa.

As part of the agreement, the companies aim to increase their presence on the African continent by offering more frequent sailings from the Mediterranean, Black Sea and Northern Europe.
