Navtor has signed a collaboration agreement with Japan’s Weathernews.

Tor Svanes, ceo of Navtor.

Through the agreement, Navtor will upgrade its weather information offering within its route planning software NavStation. Weathernews, meanwhile, will have direct access to Navtor’s electronic navigational charts services and passage planning.

The companies will also combine their operational and weather data to create a new software application that translates data into detailed, reliable and optimised decision-making tools with real-time capabilities.

Navtor ceo, Tor Svanes, added: “Weather can make all the difference between profit and loss for shipowners and operators. With Weathernews’ expertise we can ensure we deliver the best, most comprehensive weather data available, allowing navigators to minimise risks and plan the safest, most cost effective and optimal routes for their individual vessels.”
