New Head of Market Development and Support at the Port of Hamburg

September 11 - The marketing team at the Port of Hamburg has been strengthened by the recruitment of Axel Mattern.

44-year-old Axel Mattern will take up his new duties as head of Market Development and Support for Hafen Hamburg Marketing (HHM) on 1st November 2009 bringing with him his considerable experience in ports and shipping. 

Mattern joins the port from the Wallmann company where he was head of sales working with HHM on various levels. He is now looking forward to taking up his new position to contribute his knowledge of port business and developing it further by working in the market for HHM and advertising Hamburg as a prime port location. 

He will concentrate on three principal areas; support to the marine transport industry of Hamburg; build on existing market contacts and new business relationships; and raise the satisfaction levels of Hafen Hamburg Marketing's member companies. 

Matterns wide-ranging experience in the port and shipping industry encompasses the specialist transport of heavy goods.
