The vessels will be leased, with options to buy. The carrier said that the segment benefits from favourable supply fundamentals with a rapidly ageing fleet and low orderbook, coupled with a strong demand outlook. “These newbuildings will further strengthen our service to customers for transporting specialised cargoes such as breakbulk and project cargo in addition to traditional dry bulk commodities,” it added.

At the end of last year, Norden acquired the cargo activities of Taylor Maritime in South Africa, having also entered into lease agreements with purchase options for six multipurpose vessels in August 2025. Its fleet will comprise 16 leased MPPs in total, including the lnewbuilds.
