COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers has placed an order for four 40,000 dwt multipurpose heavy lift vessels at CSSC’s Chengxi Shipyard.
The value of the order is roughly USD213 million and the first ship is scheduled to be delivered by June 2028. The remaining ships are scheduled for delivery by the end of February 2029.
In a stock exchange filing, the carrier said the vessels will be used to support exports from China’s advanced manufacturing sector and facilitate the expansion of the wind power market.
HLPFI reported last month that COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers, together with COSCO Shipping (West Asia), signed a joint venture agreement with Saudi Ports Services & Storage (PSS) to strengthen its presence in the Middle East.
