September 9 - World leader in provision of marine logistics, Peters & May Ltd recently arranged what is believed to be the single largest shipment of luxury UK built motor yachts on Maersk Line's Rotterdam to Far East route, suggesting an increasing posit

Four Princesses and a new Sunseeker 30m made up the shipment valued at £10m.

Peters & May is Maersk Lines' largest client in Northern Europe based on the volume of breakbulk cargo shipped and the two companies have worked together for 15 years.

Gerald Price, marine director at Peters & May commented: "Over many years we have earned a reputation for safe and secure transport of valuable cargo and the UK's major motoryacht builders entrust us with their high value superyachts.

"A key benefit of using Peters & May for complex shipments is that we are able to use our own professionally trained load masters to oversee loading and discharge. Indeed on arrival in Singapore the four Princesses' discharge will be handled by Peters & May SE Asia before their onward sea transportation to Raffles Marina. The boats will later be attending The Singapore Grand Prix."

While not to be viewed as any true indication that business is showing significant growth, Gerald continued: "As the company that probably ships the majority of UK new builds overseas, we saw global movements rapidly fall from late 2008 until recently.

"However, we have seen some signs of an upturn in boats going into SE Asia from various parts of the world - either to dealerships or directly to clients. Looking at the volumes being shipped around the globe the rest of the world is still pretty sluggish and the US in particular continues to struggle."
