October 28 - Mumbai-based Sarjak Container Lines is set to start a new service via Riga, Klaipeda and St Petersburg, with the aim of entering the Russian import/export market for project and oversize cargoes.

The NVOCC, which specialises in the carriage of project cargoes, was the first NVOCC in India to acquire its own fleet of 40' Super Rack containers and also has a fleet of 20' and 40' hi-cube hard top open top containers.

Since August, the company has operated a service from India to Hamburg, Antwerp and Rotterdam and this month started a service to Riga, Klaipeda and St Petersburg. From November 1st, it will add ports in Italy, Spain, France, the UK and Ireland.

Until recently Sarjak has served the Indian Sub-Continent, Middle East, SE Asia, Far East and the African continent. However it aims to become a global player and says that it will continue to enter different sectors and over the coming months will offer a service to the Maghreb, Black Sea Ports,
Scandinavian Ports and the Iberian Peninsula.
