Scotline adds to fleet

Scotline has signed a contract with Royal Bodewes Group in the Netherlands to build a multipurpose coaster vessel, 4785 DWAT Bodewes Trader, with the option for a second sister vessel.

The vessel, which will be named Scot Carrier, will have a length of 89.98 m and a beam of 15.2 m, with a maximum sailing draught of 5.68 m.

Powered by a Caterpillar MaK engine, the vessel will be sailing under the British flag and classed under Lloyd's Register.

The hull is expected to be launched in September 2018 and delivery scheduled for November 2018.

Scot Carrier will be built to comply with the latest legislation, including provisions to be ready for the ballast water management convention, and will feature Swedish ice class 1B certification.

The vessel will be similar to the Scot Leader (pictured), which is already operational in Scotline's fleet of eight vessels.

Scotline runs a fleet of coasters serving Northern Europe with regular routes between Sweden, Ireland, Denmark, Germany, Norway, the Baltic States, the Netherlands, France and the UK, handling a variety of cargoes, including forest products, bulk and project cargoes.
