Mexico’s Terminal de Contenedores de Yucatán (APM Terminals Yucatán) has ordered two Konecranes Gottwald ESP.7 mobile harbour cranes (MHCs), with delivery to Puerto Progreso slated for September 2026.
Each crane has a working radius of up to 51 m and a 125-tonne maximum lifting capacity. Instead of the standard seven-axle design, APM Terminals Yucatán’s pair of MHCs will be specially equipped with a 10-axle chassis, as well as oversized propping pads which measure 2 m x 2 m x 5.4 m. These allow for the cranes to operate at full performance despite infrastructure for quay loading being limited at the Mexican terminal.

Tailpipe emissions are totally eradicated as both cranes are equipped with a 150-m 13.2 kV cable reel which enables electric operation from an external power supply.
“Our terminal is advancing through a significant long-term investment programme, and these two cranes represent important milestones along that path. We already operate earlier-generation Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbour cranes, so we are familiar with their reliability and performance,” explained Victor Peter Konen, managing director and chief operating officer of APM Terminals Yucatán.
In September, HLPFI reported that the port of Thisvi in Greece had opted for a third Gottwald ESP.7 MHC.
