August 5 - The Logwin Group posted an increase in its operating result (EBITA) to EUR12.3 million (USD16.4 million) for the first half-year of 2014, compared with the EUR10.7 million (USD14.3 million) recorded in the same period last year.

Total revenues of the logistics service provider were below the previous year at EUR543.2 million (USD726.1 million), compared with EUR622.8 million (USD832.6 million) in 2013. However, Logwin said that this was fully in line with targets after the sale or discontinuation of  various business activities in its solutions business segment in 2013.

The company's air and ocean business sector posted revenues of EUR302.7 million (USD404.6 million) in the first half-year of 2014, which exceeded the revenues of the previous year by 1.5 percent. The volume trend in ocean freight was particularly positive and exceeded market growth, commented the company.

For the full year 2014, the Logwin Group said that it expects an improvement in earnings compared with the prior year.
