Clarke joins Portico from Boluda Towage (formerly SMS Towage) where he ran a dedicated towage service at Portsmouth International Port.

He joins the company at “an exciting period of transformation for the company”, said Steve Williams, Portico managing director. The firm recently restructured its business and launched three new companies – Portico Shipping, Portico Logistics and Portico Port Services.

It also secured GBP4.8 million (USD6.5 million) from the Solent Freeport’s seed capital fund to grow its operations. It will be supported by GBP2.23 million (USD3 million) from owners Portsmouth City Council for a total of GBP7.03 (USD9.5 million) in capital investment for major projects.

“With development of our site underway we’re in a position to provide improvements for our current customers and also attract growth in other sectors as we create more space. We’re looking forward to Simon becoming involved in the business and to help all of our current and prospective clients,” Williams explained.
