December 10 - Goldhofer, which provides trailers for heavy and over-dimensional cargoes, says it has developed a complete transportation solution for Vestas, the Danish manufacturer of wind turbines.
The company worked with Vestas engineers to determine safe methods for transporting the V112 - a new generation of 3MW wind power stations for onshore sites. The plants have a hub height of up to 119 m and component weights of up to 70 tonnes.
Goldhofer offered five transportation "concepts", including a platform trailer with swing axles and a stroke of +/-300 mm to transport the 55 m long blades safely and economically, even over unlevel ground.
