The port of Long Beach’s board of harbour commissioners has named Noel Hacegaba as the Californian port’s next ceo, effective January 1, 2026.
Hacegaba currently serves as the port’s chief operating officer and has worked in various managerial roles at the port for 15 years. He succeeds Mario Cordero as ceo, who will step down at the end of the year.

“Noel Hacegaba is the ideal choice to lead the port of Long Beach,” said harbour commission president Frank Colonna. “Noel brings extensive experience managing all key port functions, deep knowledge of the goods movement industry and a collaborative leadership style that will serve the port well as we navigate future challenges and opportunities.”
Long Beach mayor Rex Richardson added: “The port of Long Beach is entering a pivotal decade – one defined by bold climate action, digital transformation, and generational infrastructure investments. Dr. Hacegaba is well-positioned to guide this next chapter as we accelerate toward zero-emission operations, expand our global competitiveness, and continue driving economic opportunity for our community.”
Earlier this year, ground was broken on a terminal expansion project at the port of Long Beach.
