The port of Long Beach in California, USA, has named Frank Colonna as president of the board of harbour commissioners and Steven Neal as vice president, effective August 6, 2025.

Colonna served two terms on the Long Beach City Council and was appointed to the port of Long Beach’s harbour commission in 2017. He has served a one-year term as president of the board, two terms as vice president and two terms as secretary.

He said: “I look forward to navigating our way through shifting trade policies, building the necessary infrastructure that will keep us competitive and continuing our pursuit to become the first zero-emissions port.”

Colonna succeeds Bonnie Lowenthal as commission president. The board also chose Sharon L. Weissman as secretary.

Earlier this month, ground was broken on a terminal expansion project at the port of Long Beach.
