December 8 - Germany's TII Group has entered the Indian market after acquiring domestic trailer manufacturer Tratec and establishing an Indian subsidiary - TII India PvT. Ltd.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pioneered the "Make in India" programme, which encourages both domestic and international companies to manufacture in the country. Tratec has been involved in the development of heavy transport equipment for over 30 years.

Effective spring 2016, TII India will produce a broad range of transportation equipment at a 30,000 sq m facility under the Tratec Tiger brand.

Dr. Axel Müller, ceo of TII Group, Germany, said: "We have developed a comprehensive product portfolio. Our vehicles meet the Indian market demands. Additionally, our customers continue to profit from the entire product and accessories range of the TII Group."

Dr. Jochen Landes, managing director of TII India, added: "TII India has its production site in Bawal, Haryana, close to Delhi. Skilled and trained by German standards, our employees produce saddle trailers, modular trailers and a broad range of accessories."

Otto Rettenmaier, head of owner family of the TII Group, continued: "The TII Group has grown continuously in the last decades and is world market leader in heavy-duty transporter solutions with hydraulically suspended axles for payloads of up to 15,000 tonnes. The foundation of TII India with its new production plant is the next logical step in our strategy to serve our international customers on site."
