April 5 - TII India, a subsidiary of the TII Group, has delivered the first three TIIGER Extender semi-trailers to Darshan Roadlines Pvt Ltd (DRPL), in the Indian city of Bawal.

One year after the official opening, TII India produce vehicles under the TIIGER brand name, designed for heavy-duty road transport operations. The TIIGER Extender, a telescopic semi-trailer (triple telescoping capability), is ideal for the transport of bulky and long loads, such as wind turbine blades and bridge sections.

"India is a growth market not least because of the extensive investment in transport and energy infrastructure that is being made. The market requires vehicles that can safely and reliably transport, for example, components for wind turbines or generators," said Dr. Jochen Landes, managing director of TII India.

Its portfolio includes various semi-trailers (with and without telescoping) along with the TIIGER Heavy Duty product line, a modular platform trailer for all heavier load assignments. According to the TII Group, DRPL has already ordered further vehicles.

In Østerild, Denmark, Scheuerle's self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT) were used by Mammoet Wind to transport prefabricated tower segments of wind turbines. According to the TII Group, the 29 m high tower segment had to be transported 22 km in a vertical position.

The entire operation involved a total transport weight of more than 700 tonnes - a world record for transporting a wind turbine, claims the TII Group.
