German crane hire, assembly, and repairs company Hack Schwerlastservice has taken delivery of an LTM 1650-8.1 from Liebherr.
Hack Schwerlastservice opted for a used LTM 1650-8.1 from Liebherr. Udo Hack, company co-owner, explained: “Since we have a high demand for missions involving this high-performance class, we wanted to purchase the Liebherr crane without delay. Fortunately, Liebherr was able to offer us a young, used LTM 1650-8.1 with only a few operating hours and kilometres on the clock, which was delivered very promptly.”
The LTM 1650-8.1 boasts a range of boom configurations and features a 700-tonne lifting capacity – the most powerful crane in Hack Schwerlastservice’s fleet. It is planning to use it for various tasks, including rail and road bridge construction; heavy lifting jobs in harbours; along with the construction, dismantling and maintenance of wind power plants.
Hack Schwerlastservice’s inaugural project for the mobile crane was to dismantle a 1906-built, 50 m-long pedestrian bridge over the River Lahn near Wetzlar, Germany, so that a new bridge could be installed. The LTM 1650-8.1 was equipped with 155 tonnes of ballast and a boom radius of 35.8 m, allowing for the crane to raise the bridge – having already been freed from its position with cutting torches.
Earlier this month, Serbian crane and heavy haulage company RT trans added an LTM 1650-8.1 to its roster, becoming the largest crane in the company’s fleet.
