UK-based under-the-jib firms MultiSec and Durham Lifting have designed and manufactured a 125-tonne lifting capacity C-Hook, making it one of the largest ever produced.

The C-Hook boasts an 125-tonne lifting capacity.

The C-Hook, capable of handling monopile sections measuring up to 4.2 m length and 15.5 m in diameter, have been developed for SeAH Wind. The under-the-jib device is primarily intended to be used for the handling of monopile cans and cones.

Differing from traditional C-Hooks – which are limited to single-direction tilt adjustment, MultiSec’s design offers a dual gantry crane system with integrated motorised counterweights that can travel to either side of the lifting point. This allows for controlled rotation in both clockwise and anticlockwise directions, ensuring safe handling across monopile sections of varying dimensions and centres of gravity.

The investment between MultiSec and Durham Lifting emphasises the need for safe, adaptable lifting equipment that serves the renewable energy industry, such as offshore wind projects.

HLPFI reported earlier this year that Durham Lifting had added the MultiSec Multi-Point 34T heavy lifting beam to its hire fleet.
