Multisec’s modular spreader beam range has received DNV type approval, certifying that the equipment meets the highest international standards for safety, engineering integrity, and offshore use.

The certification, issued by DNV at Høvik, Norway, confirms that the Multisec modular spreader beam range fully complies with DNV-ST-0378: Offshore and Platform Lifting Appliances. The range has been assessed against demanding requirements covering structural design, global and local load analysis, material impact toughness, qualified welding procedures, manufacturing quality control, as well as full traceability of all components.

This follows the DNV certification of two of Multisec’s spreader beams last month – a 2,000-tonne beam measuring 18.5 m long and a 1,200-tonne version measuring 12.5 m.

Models with safe working load capacities ranging from 13 tonnes to 250 tonnes are covered within this approval. The certification confirms that Multisec modular spreader beams are approved for installation and use on any DNV-classed vessel or offshore unit, including crane vessels, pipelay and cable laying ships, drilling platforms, heavy lift barges and floating production systems.

“Achieving DNV certification is a significant milestone for our team and a strong endorsement of the engineering behind the Multisec brand,” said Olivia Gardiner, Multisec sales and operations manager. “This accreditation further strengthens our position in global markets and gives our customers even greater confidence when choosing our products.”

Earlier this year, Multisec and Durham Lifting designed a 125-tonne lifting capacity C-Hook.
