December 15 - The guided-missile destroyer USS John S. McCain has arrived at the US Navy's Fleet Activities Yokosuka dockyard in Japan onboard the Dockwise heavy lift vessel Treasure.

USS McCain, which was loaded onto the semi-submersible vessel in October, will undergo repairs at the Ship Repair Facility - Japan Regional Maintenance Center, following its collision with a tanker off Singapore in August.

On route to Yokosuka, the heavy lift vessel was diverted to Subic Bay, Philippines due to poor weather conditions and to repair cracks in the ship's hull, discovered after departing Singapore.

USS McCain arrived in Tokyo Bay on December, 5. For several days, crews prepared the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer to be offloaded from the vessel and towed pier side in Yokosuka.

Repairs are expected to take approximately one year to complete, according to a statement released by the Navy.
