Danish-owned ferry operator DFDS says it will be able to carry a wider range of out-of-gauge (OOG) and project cargo between Norway, Belgium and the UK from February 2019, when its enhanced service enters operation.

The existing vessel Lysbris Seaways, which mainly ships forest products and containers, will be replaced by a larger ro-ro vessel, Finlandia Seaways, which, according to DFDS, will be able to carry additional cargo including trailers and machinery, as well as a wider variety of project cargoes.

In addition to the existing calls at the Norwegian ports of Fredrikstad and Halden, DFDS will also add the port of Brevik to the schedule, which also calls at Zeebrugge and Immingham.
