AAL Shipping has delivered the first of three 174-tonne tunnel boring machines (TBM) destined for the Snowy 2.0 pumped-hydro expansion project to Port Kembla in New South Wales, Australia.
Measuring 11 m in diameter and 137 m long, the TBMs were discharged from the heavy lift vessel AAL Shanghai using the ship’s own cranes.
The TBM will be used to excavate 40 km of tunnels for the project.
