Project freight forwarder DAKO Worldwide Transport has delivered oversized brewery equipment from Germany and China, destined for a plant expansion in Paraguay.

In total, 14 brewery tanks, with unit weights of up to 42 tonnes and dimensions of 23.2 m x 7.3 m x 8.8 m, were moved to Paraguay.

Departing from Shanghai, the tanks were shipped to Montevideo in Uruguay, before being discharged directly onto a barge for a 1,075 km river journey up the Río Paraná and Rio Paraguay rivers, which had varying water levels along the way.

Given the dimensions of the tanks, DAKO was able to discharge the barges very close to the site of the job, ultimately shortening the transport route via public roads whilst keeping major civil works to a minimum.

Last month, DAKO returned to the Garabito power plant in Costa Rica 15 years after delivering the original engines to manage the replacement of an engine block.
