The vessel Zhen Hua 28 arrived at the port from Shanghai, China. The equipment will be used at the container terminal, which will be operated by Lekki Freeport Terminal, a subsidiary of CMA CGM Group.

Chairman of Lekki Port, Biodun Dabiri, noted that Lekki is the only port in the country that Zhen Hua 28 vessel could berth at due to its depth and draught. Du Ruogang, managing director, added: “This is the first batch of our port machinery; in August, we will mobilise the second batch of two STS [cranes] and five RTGs. By the time of the formal commencement of the port operations, there would be five STS [cranes] and 15 RTGs in place.”
