June 20 - Lufthansa Cargo Charter Agency GmbH has opened an office in Miami which will function as the basis for customer liaison and the development of the Latin American market.

The company, which has had an office in Chicago since 2002, says that the Miami office is headed by Roland Vimo, who comes from a solid air cargo background. Vimo was born in Argentina in 1958 and soon after he finished university in Buenos Aires with a BA in Accounting, he moved into the cargo business in Miami.

As vice president of sales and marketing with Cielos Airlines until 2003, Vimo developed different charter businesses before leaving for Diamond Freight Inc a Miami-based cargo handling company where he had been president.

'I just needed a bit of change and a new challenge', Vimo says, 'so going into the charter business again and developing a new market sounded just right. And Latin America is sort of home turf being from Argentina originally.'

Reto R. Hunziker, managing director, and Andrew Morch, general manager the Americas, of Lufthansa Cargo Charter are both convinced there is a lot of business to be generated being closer to the market with a personal presence. 'We wish Ronald a lot of success and fun with his new job', they both state.
