April 28 - Specialist straddle carrier and forklift manufacturer Combilift plans to invest EUR40 million (USD43.8 million) over the next two years in a new manufacturing facility in Ireland, which it says will create 200 additional jobs.

Combilift said that this expansion would enable the company to proceed with its plan of doubling its current EUR150 million (USD164.3 million) turnover over the next five years.

The Irish company recently purchased 40 ha of industrial zoned land on the Monaghan by-pass, where the new purpose-built 40,000 sq m greenfield manufacturing site will be built.

The new facility, which will include a dedicated research and development building and adjoining administrational offices, will more than double the size of both of Combilift's existing manufacturing facilities.

Currently the company's forklift range is produced in Monaghan Town, while its straddle carrier range is manufactured in Clontibret.
