November 26 - Thorco Shipping's latest newbuild vessel Thorco Logic has been launched by Honda Heavy Industries in Japan.

Thorco confirmed that it currently has eight vessels of this type in its fleet, and two further ships to be delivered - Thorco Logic and Thorco Lohas.

These two vessels, along with Thorco Logos which has already been delivered, are somewhat different from Thorco's ships of the same type, since they have installed special energy saving devices (ESD), explained the Danish shipping line.

Thorco Logos is equipped with an eco stator and rudder bulb, while Thorco Logic features a surf-bulb and Thorco Lohas will have a surf-bulb and eco stator installed. The company expects these initiatives to save 4-6 percent fuel.

The vessels each have a deadweight of 16,954 tonnes and are equipped with two 50-tonne capacity cranes.

HLPFI reported that Thorco Lanner had been launched by Honda Heavy Industries in February 2015.
