ALE has transported and lifted a separator for the Repsol refinery in A Coruña, Spain.

The engineered transport provider completed a preliminary technical study to identify the most viable port capable of receiving the unit, taking into account the best route to the refinery.

ALE selected the port of A Coruña for the project and moved the component, which weighed 137 tonnes, overnight.

Measuring 12.1 m x 7.5 m x 7.4 m, ALE said the separator was the largest item ever moved through the streets of A Coruña. Once all the necessary permits were obtained, and street furniture removed, ALE moved the component using 12 axle lines of SPMTs.

Once on site, the separator was manoeuvred to its lifting position, where two mobile cranes with lifting capacities of 1,000 tonnes and 350 tonnes were used to hoist the component.
