March 27 - American Worldwide Agencies (AWA) has opened a new office in Houston to handle the company's growing business in the region for project freight, oil and gas, breakbulk and containerised cargo moves.
The AWA facility will be headed up by Reagan Jones, who will be responsible for the development of the project and breakbulk business in the southern States, as well as vendor procurement and ocean and air sales. Prior to joining AWA, Jones has held management and sales positions at Chapman Freeborn Airchartering and Starlight Airline US.
Andrew Scott, ceo of AWA, explained the reasons for opening the new Houston branch: "Houston is the number one US port in foreign tonnage and is the largest Gulf container port…It is also in major growth mode, with both imports and exports on the rise."
"We expect continued growth in 2014 of our project and oversized cargo business and our Houston office will play a central role in supporting this growth and rapidly delivering our customers' cargoes, whether by land, ocean or air," added Scott.
