BDP adds project logistics capabilities in UK

June 12 - US-based BDP International says it now offers customised logistics solutions that support construction, mining, power generation, chemical and other infrastructure projects through its office in Dartford, UK.

"We now have heavy lift capabilities, which previously were handled by our offices in Antwerp and Nuremberg," saidAnthony AkermanBDP's recently appointed UK country manager. "In fact we've already handled a 500 tonne shipment of turbines and generators from Germany to the UK."

BDP offers a range of project logistics services, including end-to-end materials management and tracking, freight negotiation and carrier cost maintenance, logistics process analysis and optimization, complete documentation, coordination of cargo inspections, inland transportation and scheduling, and supervision of heavy lifts, outsized and hazardous cargo, port operations and job-site unloading and checking.

Also provided are project engineering services, including professional route surveys, method statements and infrastructure-related engineering calculations, as well as technical methods for lifting and positioning heavy equipment. In addition, the BDP Dartford office offers the company's full range of global logistics services, including air and ocean transport, freight forwarding, and customs and security compliance.
