CEA Projects drinks up

September 18 - CEA Project Logistics (CEA Projects) has completed the transportation, lifting and installation of several distillation column, evaporator and fan components for a drinks manufacturer in Bang Nam Priao, Thailand.

The consignment weighed a total of 46 tonnes, with the largest part - an evaporator chamber - weighing in at 28 tonnes and measuring 23 m long.

"All parts were discharged overnight at Laem Chabang port and loaded onto several flatbed and lowbed trailers. Due to its weight and dimensions the upper part of the evaporator chamber was loaded onto a multi-axle hydraulic trailer," explained CEA Projects marketing and communications manager Earl Brown.

The cargo was then transported from the port to the installation site in the Thai province of Chachoengsao, where the components were unloaded at the factory's laydown area, before being moved into position using two mobile cranes - one 500-tonne capacity model and one capable of handling 80 tonnes.

The evaporator chamber was lifted by both cranes in a tandem lift until it was vertical. The 80-tonne capacity crane was then unhooked, while the larger crane continued the lift into the facility. The 16 m long distillation chamber was also transported on a lowbed trailer to the site's lay down area and lifted by the same method into the drinks factory.

CEA Projects is a member of the Project Cargo Network (PCN) in Thailand and Myanmar.
