Cosco changes newbuild order

July 5 - Cosco Shipping has confirmed that it has ordered three 36,000 dwt ice-class multipurpose vessels and four 28,000 dwt heavy lift ships, which will replace its original order for seven heavy lift ships.

Cosco has signed a letter of intent with Shanghai Shipyard to deliver the three new multipurpose vessels in between October and December, 2017.

Each of the three multipurpose ships will be equipped with four cranes, with a maximum tandem lifting capacity of 200 tonnes. The vessels will feature cargo holds with large hatch openings and tween deck covers.
