April 10 - Crowley Maritime Corporations has shipped a retired bloodmobile from Jacksonville, Florida to Haiti for use on the island as a new Zanmi Lasante mobile health clinic.

The bloodmobile was shipped from Crowley's Port Everglades terminal in Jacksonville and is expected to arrive in Haiti's Port-au-Prince today, April 10.

Tony Otero, vice president, Caribbean services at Crowley, commented: "Not only do we provide regular and reliable sailings between Haiti and the USA, but it is our hope to continue providing other support services, such as relocating this repurposed bloodmobile, to benefit all those living on the island."

Crowley was a major provider of emergency response, salvage, shipping and logistics support services to the island, following the devastating earthquake in 2010.

Zanmi Lasante is a division of Boston's Partners for Health, the largest non-governmental provider of health care in Haiti.
