January 10 - Delta Maritime has coordinated the transport of three wind turbine sets along with 14 20 ft containers, from Spain to Agios Kyrikos port in Ikaria, Greece.
The Greek project forwarder also arranged for the oncarriage of the consignment from Agios Kyrikos to the final project site. Delta Maritime chartered a ro-ro vessel in order to carry the equipment to a smaller port closer to the wind farm site, as the roads in Ikaria were unsuitable for transporting the oversize loads.
The shipment included 21.5 m long rotor blades; steel tower sections measuring 17 m long; three 31-tonne nacelles, and three 24.3-tonne generators with dimensions off 4.1 m x 4.1 m x 3.1 m.
Delta Maritime is a member of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) representing Greece.
