DLT to build 5,000 tonne jacking system

June 6 - UK headquartered Dorman Long Technology (DLT) has been awarded a contract by China Petroleum First Construction Company (CPFCC), based in Henan Province, for the design and supply of a modular jacking tower system.

The jacking system - named MYQ5000 - will be used for the erection of petrochemical vessels weighing up to 5,000 tonnes and measuring up to 160 m tall.

DLT will manufacture the unit at its Shanghai works, which is scheduled for delivery in early 2014.

Petrochemical vessels in China are set to rise above 4,000 tonnes in the near future, says DLT, describing the MYQ5000 as a practical and economical method of handling the heavy units.

The MYQ5000 has a number of features including: central wireless control of all systems; the ability to move vessels longitudinally and transversely after lifting, and to rotate the load using a swivel incorporated into the lifting beam; and a self-erection/dismantling system.

All of the elements have been designed for ease of transport between jobsites and for efficient assembly/disassembly onsite.

The MYQ5000 will be deployed initially for work inside China, but is likely to be used in international markets.
