First in Libya for PCN

September 16 - The fast-growing forwarder group, Project Cargo Network, has revealed its first member in Libya with the addition of Tripoli-based M&M Libya, bringing its membership to just short of 100.

Despite recent civil and political unrest, the country is set to benefit from a change of leadership direction saysPCN, which is convinced that the Libyan market will again begin to prosper. The addition of M&M Libya will ensure that it is best placed to take advantage of all available opportunities, says the network.

M&M Libya, which has offices in Misurata, Ras Lanuf and Benghazi, offers a wide range of services encompassing all modes of transport, including project management and a full off-shore support service to the oil and gas Industries, says Mohamed Douas, CEO of M&M Libya.

Libya has the 10th-largest proven oil reserves of any country in the world and the 17th-highest petroleum production.

Douas added: "All our offices have now re-opened and are fully operational, with most of them back on-line as far as phone, fax and internet communications. Notwithstanding the tragedies throughout the country, we are glad to report that all our staff are safe and well, and are gradually returning to work."

"We are handling a major contract on behalf of the Libyan Stevedoring Authority and RZD, the Russian Railway Authority, which is building part of the Libyan Railway project. This will involve the unloading and transport to sites of almost six million tonnes of special equipment, project and general cargo over the next five years."

PCN membership has grown to 98 members in 57 countries.
