Giant imports take the Direct route to India

December 18 - India based freight forwarder, Direct Logistics, has handled the import of a shipment, with a total weight of 1,516 tonnes, from Rotterdam, the Netherlands to Kandla, India for the Lalitpur Super Thermal Power Project.

Direct Logistics handled the Customs clearance, port handling and stooling of the cargo, which consisted of 31 breakbulk packages, with a total volume of 2,139 cu m and ten containers, with a total volume of 412 cu m.

The heaviest units transported were a 326-tonne generator, which had the dimensions 12.4 m x 4.4 m x 4.3 m and a 92-tonne turbine, which had the dimensions 6.8 m x 6.6 m x 4.4 m.

On arrival at the port of Kandla the cargo, which was manufactured by Siemens for Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), was unloaded from a geared vessel onto vehicles for stooling in the storage yard.

Direct Logistics is a member of the Project Cargo Network (PCN).
