Höegh makes Southampton stop

September 9 - Höegh Autoliners' new pure car/truck carrier (PCTC) vessel, Höegh Target, made its maiden stop at the UK's port of Southampton yesterday, September 8.

The vessel has a carrying capacity of 8,500 ceu, a deck space of 71,400 sq m, a stern ramp capacity of 375 tonnes and a 6.5 m high door, and is currently the largest PCTC in service worldwide. It is the first in a series of six such vessels that Höegh plans to build within the next 18 months.

Having made its maiden UK port call back in August when it arrived at the northeastern port of Tyne, Höegh Target returned to the UK to load a number of commercial and industrial vehicles, including Land Rovers, Volvo trucks and Caterpillar machines, onboard.

The ship will now travel to Santander, before sailing to South Africa and then returning to Asia.
