Lange to head up UTC rail projects

May 18 - UTC Overseas has promoted Jim Lange to the role of project director of the company's rail department.

In this new role Lange will be responsible for commercial activities on all rail-related projects. UTC specialises in the transport of heavy and out-of-gauge project cargo by rail.

Lange joined UTC in 2011 as a project coordinator, and soon advanced to project manager, with a focus on rail services for customers involved in North American power generation and distribution projects.

Lange explained that the company has recently expanded its resources for handling difficult and complex rail-based projects, with the development of a custom-designed heavy-duty rail car - a 16-axle depressed centre car with a 40 ft (12.2 m) load deck and capacity of 400 tonnes.
