M-Star on the double

December 18 - M-Star Freight Services recently completed a pair of project moves from multiple points of origin to Russia.

A large EPC contracted the project freight forwarder to manage the delivery of a reforming technology block, which forms part of a large oil refinery.

The cargo cargoes were moved from various locations in China, Egypt, Europe, India, Mexico and the USA to Tuapse in the Krasnodar Krai region of Russia. In total, 18,000 tonnes of cargo was shipped to the Russian site - the largest being a reactor measuring 15 m x 7 m x 7 m and weighing 178 tonnes.

M-Star's business development manager, Jan Euwema, said: "The very limited space at the port of Tuapse created additional challenges. However, M-Star successfully delivered all the cargo in good condition and within the requested time."

In a second project, M-Star coordinated the logistics and delivery of a double cell ethylene cracking furnace to a petrochemical plant to Angarsk, East Siberia.

The 10,000-tonne consignment originated at various locations across China, Europe and India. According to Euwema, M-Star was tasked with organising road transport in China and Europe, and the out-of-gauge rail transportation in Russia.

The company also coordinated warehousing and temporary storage in China, Latvia, the Netherlands and Poland; export Customs clearance and permitting; port handling; lashing and securing; marine surveying; export packing; and transhipment of heavy lift pieces and containers at the China/Russia border.

M-Star is a member of the Project Cargo Network (PCN) representing the Netherlands and Georgia.
