January 22 - Volga-Dnepr Airlines has delivered a shipment weighing almost 100 tonnes, including a self-propelled Bauer BG28 mining drill to Magadan, Russia.

An Antonov AN-124-100 freighter flight from Moscow was operated on behalf of Russian construction and engineering concern, Stroymechanoservice LLC. The freighter also carried auxiliary equipment to support the operation and maintenance of the drill.

Last month (December) HLPFI reported that Volga-Dnepr successfully delivered 300 tonnes of gold mining equipment from the Czech Republic to Kenya on board three AN-124-100 flights.

The Jan/Feb issue of HLPFI has now gone to our printers and copies should be hitting readers' desks by the end of this month. Now our attention turns to the March/April edition. This will include a focus on logistics within the mining industry and there will be our regular articles on law, insurance and safety; plus and letters from our regional correspondents.
