NBPC ceo takes on port role

February 1 - Current president and ceo of NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers (NBPC), Masamichi Morooka, has been appointed president of the newly launched Yokohama Kawasaki International Port Corporation.

Morooka will continue to serve as head of both companies for an unspecified period of time, confirmed NBPC.

Yokohama Kawasaki International Port Corporation was founded on January 12 of this year by the city of Yokohama. It will also be owned by the city of Kawasaki and the Japanese government, as well as a number of private companies.

From spring 2016, the new company will be active in various business fields, said NBPC, such as strategic planning for container terminals and cargo sales at the ports of Yokohama and Kawasaki.
