March 14 - UK based Q Crane & Plant Hire has taken delivery of its second Kobelco CKE 1350G lattice boom crawler crane, with a lifting capacity of 135 tonnes at 4.5 m.

The company purchased its first CKE 1350G model in April 2015 at the Intermat exhibition in Paris, France.

"With its up to date technology and innovations, the CKE 1350G is an extremely popular machine in high demand with both construction and crane rental companies across the whole of the European market," claims Kobelco Cranes Europe sales manager Mark Evans.

Q Plant's new crane is currently at work on the GBP431 million (USD618 million) Mersey Gateway project, which will see a new 1,100 m long bridge built across the UK's River Mersey and Manchester Ship Canal.

"The CKE 1350G is working with nine of our other crawler cranes performing various lifting operations on the project," explained Anthony Quinn, managing director of Q Plant.

The company's other Kobelco CKE 1350G crane is currently working on the construction of a second deepwater container terminal at the UK Port of Liverpool.

The new crawler is equipped with Kobelco's KCross remote operation management system, which the manufacturer says helps to maximise machine efficiency and uptime. Based on satellite mapped images, the KCross system uses the internet and other means to remotely monitor a crane's working condition and its location.

"Machines fitted with the KCross system transmit working conditions, location and maintenance history to provide us with fact-based information that gives tremendous advantages for our asset management," said Quinn.
