Reshamsingh bridges the gap

June 16 - India's Reshamsingh & Co. has coordinated a complex project that required the transport of approximately 90,000 freight tonnes of cargo for a bridge development in Delhi.

The project included the movement of two 7 m wide 393-tonne units, 45 packages weighing 150-tonnes apiece, and 90 oversize pieces measuring 32 m long by 5 m wide.

The Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) contracted Jiangsu Zhongtai Steel Structure Co Ltd - a sub-contractor of Gammon-Constutora-Tensacciai JV - to fabricate 15,000 tonnes of steel pylons and deck girders for the eight-lane Signature Bridge, which will cross the river Yamuna.

The consignment was shipped from Shanghai to Port Kandla, where Reshamsingh staff were on-hand to coordinate delivery to the final project site some 1,440 km away. The company was responsible for receiving the fabrications under-the-hook, Customs clearance, payment of port charges, reloading the units onto trailers and delivering the cargo to the final jobsite.

Reshamsingh had to construct more than 12 bypasses to ensure the safe movement of the oversize pieces along the route, including across the Parvati, Borkhandi and Kalishind rivers.

Reshamsingh is a member of the Cargo Equipment Experts (CEE) Network representing India.
