February 12 - It might not be the usual type of urgent project assignment that Saudia Cargo is used to - but the repercussions if this urgent freight does not get into the eager hands of the customer on time could be severe.

The B747 and MD-11 freighter operator has added series of four extra freighter flights this week from Nairobi to Amsterdam in order to meet extra demand for flowers in the traditionally busy month of February - ahead of Valentine's Day.

The extra flights are being operated with a mix of MD-11 and B747F and will be in addition to the existing five weekly scheduled freighter flights on this sector, providing a total capacity of 1,000 tonnes for flowers into the European market during this particular peak window.

"Kenya is the number one airfreight export country in Africa. Saudia Cargo is a well-established and leading carrier in this market," commented Ken Mbogo, regional sales director Africa at Saudia Cargo. "We will continue to strengthen our support to the industry in the long term," he added.
