Nanjing Jinling shipyard in China has started construction of Finnlines’ second hybrid ro-ro vessel. The first steel plates were cut on September 16, 2020.

The vessel is part of Finnlines’ EUR500 million (USD585.7 million) newbuilding programme. The shipping line plans to take three hybrid ro-ro vessels, as well as two eco-friendly Superstar ro-pax vessels. Construction of the first vessel in the series began earlier in the year, as HLPFI reported here

The hybrid vessels will be named Finneco I, Finneco II, and Finneco II and are scheduled for delivery during 2021 and 2022. The ro-pax vessels are set come into operation in 2023.
