UK-based AIS Wind Energy (AIS), part of Ainscough Industrial Services, has acquired a Liebherr LG 1750 lattice boom mobile crane.

The 750-tonne crane will be used at onshore wind energy installation projects, and will carry out decommissioning and maintenance works. The company said the unit has already been mobilised to the Sandy Knowe wind farm in Dumfries, Scotland, where it supported wind turbine installation activities.

With projects booked across the UK for 2024, AIS also hopes to utilise the crane in Ireland, Scandinavia, and Germany.

“The LG1750’s height and radius capabilities provide the capacity we need to meet market requirements as they evolve and to mobilise and demobilise turbines efficiently,” said Andrew McGlade, AIS Wind Energy’s managing director.

“It will also help us reduce transportation costs compared with current crawler crane demobilisation expenditure and operate within tight restrictive sites, all while offering strength and capacity on a mobile chassis.”
